This information has been dispersed and therefore unattractive and in many cases just considered for future geologist-geophysical studies in the area. Taking into account this situation and the growing need for accurate information to improve the differentiation of geological formations that support mineral exploration, it was the problem that gave rise to this research. The main objective to be fulfilled was to generalize the rocks physical density and their magnetic susceptibility properties to characterize the geological formations of the eastern central region of the Pinar Del Río province through the behavior of the aforementioned physical properties. With the characterization of the formations by their litho-types in this territory, knowledge of physical properties can be enriched and can be used as a complement in subsequent prospecting works. The main results obtained consisted of the statistical processing of the physical properties density and magnetic susceptibility, which are represented in tables, which show the behavior of each property according to its value in the different formations and litho-types identified in addition variants. Maps were made of density and magnetic susceptibility, to be compared with the magnetic and gravimetric physical fields as well as with the geology of the investigated area. Las mediciones de las propiedades físicas de las rocas en Cuba se han realizado en la mayoría de los trabajos geólogo-geofísicos ejecutados en la parte centro-oriental de la provincia de Pinar del Río, por su alto potencial para la prospección de minerales. Esta información obtenida ha quedado dispersa y, por consiguiente, poco atractiva y en muchos casos escasamente considerada para futuros estudios geólogo-geofísicos en la zona. Teniendo en cuenta esta situación y la creciente necesidad de tener información precisa que permita mejorar la diferenciación de las formaciones geológicas y que sirva de apoyo a la prospección de minerales, se constituyó el problema que dio origen a esta investigación. El principal objetivo a cumplir consistió en generalizar las propiedades físicas densidad y susceptibilidad magnética de las rocas, para caracterizar las formaciones geológicas de la región centro-oriental de la provincia de Pinar del Río, a través del comportamiento de esas propiedades físicas. Con la caracterización de las formaciones por sus litotipos en este territorio se podrá enriquecer el conocimiento de las propiedades físicas y podrá servir de complemento en posteriores trabajos de prospección. Los principales resultados alcanzados consistieron en el procesamiento estadístico de las propiedades físicas densidad y susceptibilidad magnética, que fue representado en forma de tablas mostrando el comportamiento de cada propiedad según su valor en las diferentes formaciones y litotipos identificados. Además, se confeccionaron variantes de mapas de densidad y susceptibilidad magnética para ser comparados con los campos físicos magnéticos y gravimétricos, así como con la geología del área investigada.
