The geophysical surveys for this purpose have been numerous in the Isle of Youth, although the integration of geophysical information to carry out a geological cartography at scale 1:50 000 of the Nueva Gerona sector has been insufficient, which is why this research exposes the contribution of geophysical methods and data mining to this geological task in that area. The interpretation of the potential fields made it possible to map the main tectonic limits, while the spectrometry allowed delineating the geological units; in particular, the spectrometric relationships and the ternary map supported the interpretation reflecting the main lithological contacts. The aeromagnetic field and the integral channel (IGT) provided the best results, although the gravimetric field response served to study areas where magnetometry did not have a clear response as in the Youth fault. Spatial data served as support for the analysis of geology and differentiate types of rocks, while geomorphological information was used for the study of tectonic structures. From the interpretation, a table with the main geophysical indexes for geological cartography was prepared. Integrated interpretation maps were made, one based on geophysical methods, and others through the use of data mining techniques in which the units with the most available information were mapped. El empleo de métodos geofísicos en la cartografía geológica posibilita conocer la constitución geológica del terreno y proponer la geometría de las estructuras según el comportamiento de los campos físicos. Los levantamientos geofísicos con esta finalidad han sido numerosos en la Isla de la Juventud, aunque ha sido insuficiente la integración de la información geofísica para realizar una cartografía geológica a escala 1:50 000 del sector Nueva Gerona, razón por la cual esta investigación expone la contribución de los métodos geofísicos y la minería de datos a esta tarea geológica en dicha área. La interpretación de los campos potenciales posibilitó cartografiar los principales límites tectónicos, mientras que la espectrometría permitió delimitar las unidades geológicas, en particular, las relaciones espectrométricas y el mapa ternario apoyaron la interpretación reflejando los principales contactos litológicos. El campo aeromagnético y el canal integral (IGT) proporcionaron los mejores resultados, aunque la respuesta del campo gravimétrico sirvió para estudiar zonas donde la magnetometría no tuvo una clara respuesta como en la falla Juventud. Los datos espaciales sirvieron como apoyo para el análisis de la geología y diferenciar tipos de rocas, mientras que la información geomorfológica fue utilizada para el estudio de las estructuras tectónicas. A partir de la interpretación fue elaborada una tabla con los principales índices geofísicos para la cartografía geológica. Se confeccionaron mapas de interpretación integrada, uno a partir de los métodos geofísicos, y otros mediante el empleo de las técnicas de minería de datos en los cuales fueron cartografiadas las unidades con mayor información disponible.
