Geological Age of the Margot Formation and its relationship with the geochemical composition of lavas Edad geológica de la Formación Margot y su relación con la composición geoquímica de las lavas Bristol Ávila, Rebeca Basalt dating stratigraphy Margot Formation geochemistry Basalto datación estratigrafía Formación Margot geoquímica The following article deals with the reconstruction of the stratigraphic column of the Margot Formation, based on stratigraphic, paleontological and geochemical data from previous works. There are three stratigraphic sections (vulcanogen-sedimentary) that differ in their lithological composition, age and geochemical affinity of vulcanites. The lower section is characterized by the presence of micritic limestones and mainly aphyric basalts (lava). In the intermediate one, there is a predominance of volcanoclastic material, while the upper one stands out for the predominance of porphyry silicites, limestones and basalts (lava) in pads. From this point of view it was possible to differentiate the presence of the two types of basalts (lava) that exist, which indicate a formation environment type MORB-N to MORB-E, and suprasubduction zone (ZSS). This statement reflects the lithological complexity that exists in the same unit. El siguiente artículo versa sobre la reconstrucción de la columna estratigráfica de la Formación Margot, a partir de datos estratigráficos, paleontológicos y geoquímicos de trabajos previos. Se distinguen tres secciones estratigráficas (vulcanógeno-sedimentarias) que se diferencian por su composición litológica, edad y afinidad geoquímica de las vulcanitas. La sección inferior se caracteriza por la presencia de calizas micríticas y basaltos (lava) afíricos fundamentalmente. En la intermedia se observan predominio de material volcanoclástico, mientras que la superior se destaca por el predominio de silicitas, calizas y basaltos (lava) porfídicos en almohadillas. Desde este punto de vista se pudo diferenciar la presencia de los dos tipos de basaltos (lava) que existen, los cuales indican un ambiente de formación tipo MORB-N a MORB-E, y de zona de suprasubducción (ZSS). Dicha afirmación refleja la complejidad litológica que existe en una misma unidad.
