Impacts on the environment caused during the exploitation of the Jacinto Deposit Impactos en el medio ambiente provocados durante la explotación del Depósito Jacinto Trumbull Gray, Romancia impacts exploitation environment impactos explotación medio ambiente Mining is characterized by causing strong impacts to the environment, hence the objective of the work, which is to make known the main impacts caused to the environment by the exploitation of the Jacinto deposit located in the Guáimaro municipality in the province of Camagüey; Despite this, said exploitation represents an activity of great importance for the territory, for its contribution to the economy of the country, the province and local economic and social benefits. In this case, each area of ​​alteration in land, water, atmospheric air and socio-economic subsystems was determined and characterized by its duration. As a result of the work, it is demonstrated that in the development of mining activities, in addition to the primary impacts fundamentally given by the deterioration of the landscape, the biotic elements, the relief and the economy that intervene in the stability of the ecosystem, secondary impacts appear mainly related to water, air and soil pollution. The sustainable exploitation of this deposit can only be carried out by taking the relevant measures in each of the actions, in order to make deposit exploitation and the preservation of the environment compatible. La minería se caracteriza por ocasionar fuertes impactos al medio, de allí el objetivo del trabajo que es dar a conocer los principales impactos que provoca al medio ambiente la explotación del depósito Jacinto ubicado en el municipio Guáimaro en la provincia de Camagüey; a pesar de ello dicha explotación representa una actividad de gran importancia para el territorio, por su aporte para la economía del país, la provincia y los beneficios económicos y sociales locales.  En este caso se determinaron y caracterizaron por su duración cada ámbito de alteración en los recursos tierra, hídricos, aire atmosférico y en el subsistema socio – económico. Como resultado del trabajo  queda demostrado que en el desarrollo de las actividades mineras, además de los impactos primarios fundamentalmente dados por el deterioro del paisaje, de los elementos bióticos, el relieve y la economía que intervienen en la estabilidad del ecosistema, aparecen impactos secundarios principalmente relacionados con la contaminación de las aguas, del aire y del suelo. La explotación sostenible de este depósito sólo se podrá llevar a efecto tomando las medidas pertinentes en cada una de las acciones, a fin de compatibilizar la explotación minera y la preservación del medio ambiente.
