Abstract

The mineralogical compositions of the accompanying petroleum water are: halite, silvite, calcite, plaster, among others that generate a solution that accompanies the petroleum mineral. With oil refining actions the economic benefits increases obtaining: naphtha’s, aviation fuels, diesel, basic oils, fuel oil and residuals determining the monetary increment of the one mentioned mineral. It is essential to identify the deterioration effects that cause losses to the oil industry from the corrosive point of view. The research objectives are: to determine mineralogical composition influence of the accompanying petroleum water coming from a raw oil treatment battery on the established construction steel corrosion. The physical-chemical characterization of the accompanying water showed that the minerals of high concentration were: halite, with an average value of 19 576,91 mg / L to be the deposits near the coast, calcite with 528,0 mg / L and plaster with 29,16 mg / L. These minerals affect in a significant way the construction material of the oil facilities: pipelines and storage tanks of raw oil, in which it is generally, exhibited the low deposit corrosion type. The results of the physical-chemical parameters of the corrosive means were compared with those that are reported in the literature and was demonstrated that the biggest aggressiveness presented is the accompanying petroleum water, apart from the composition that contains the Cuban raw oil that contained notable hydrogen sulphide dissolved in the oil system. The frequency corrosion for the materials that were evaluated varied among 0, 1554 mm / year for the steel of tanks and 0, 3577 mm / year for that of the pipeline. It was applied optic microscopy and x rays diffraction for analysis of the micrographs and identification of the crystalline iron phases that were generated respectively.
