ANALYSIS OF METALLOGENIC STRUCTURAL CONTROL ON THE INTEGRATED GEOPHYSICAL DATABASE. CASE EXAMPLE: MOSQUETE-COJÍMAR-CALETÓN ZONE, PROVINCE SANTIAGO DE CUBA
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Oro Barita reservoir located in the province of Santiago de Cuba has limitations with existing reserves of Au, which means that there is a risk that in the short term there will be no resources to prolong the useful life of the plant installed there. For the reasons explained above, the Institute of Geology and Paleontology has been participating since the end of 2015 in joint research with the company Geominera Oriente, whose objective is the evaluation of new areas in the surroundings of said plant in order to select favorable sectors for the recognition or prospecting of gold mineralization; the present work constitute one of these researche which covers the Mosquete-Cojímar-Caletón zone. The methodology consisted in the integration and complex geothermalgeophysical reinterpretation of available geological, geomorphological and geophysical data (aeromagnetic, aerogamma-spectrometric and gravimetric). The main result was obtaining a map of metalogenic control structures, at 1: 50 000 scale with some new synarco structural elements, together with proposals of favorable sectors for recognition of gold mineralization of epithermal type.
