ESTUDIO DE UNA MUESTRA DE SKARN GRANATÍFERO DEL YACIMIENTO DE LA REGIÓN “HIERRO SANTIAGO” PARA SU EMPLEO COMO ABRASIVO EN PRÓTESIS DENTALES
Main Article Content
Abstract
The abrasive used in metal parts polishing of dental prosthetics, which are produced for the population by MINSAP, consist of synthetic materials of particle sizes - 0.3 + 0.2 mm, expensive (at a price of approximately 277 USD / kg) and difficult to acquire, which damages the provision of this important service. From a request by the Minister MINSAP to MINEM, to find a solution to this problem through the use of Cuban minerals, this research was carried out to replace abrasives import garnetconcentrates, obtained from the garnet skarn associated with magnetite deposits in the region "Iron Santiago". They are obtained by a simple method of low intensity magnetic separation, garnet abrasive high grade (> 90%) in the particle size fractions of interest. Use tests conducted by the Stomatology Direction of Public Health Ministry, they gave positive results. A technological flow is proposed in the center with existing equipment and is recommended to perform an economic evaluation; to replace the import executed micro productions by the CIPIMM.
