Abstract

A leaching process for a mixed copper ore is evaluated. First, an agitation test was performed to evaluate the dissolution of a mineral since, although it presents a high dissolution (83%), it is mostly a sulphide and also to evaluate the extraction of copper at different acid dosages. Then, agglomerate and sulfation tests were carried out to find out the behavior and response of the mineral under different treatment conditions. Where it is obtained that the best operating parameters are a curing time of 48 hours and dosages of 60 kg of acid / t of mineral and 65 kg of water / t of mineral. Finally, considering these data obtained (ore grade, mineralogy, grain size, behavior in tests performed and theory) and associated costs of the process, it is concluded that the best process to benefit the mineral is by the hydrometallurgical route with a heap leaching process. , columns at the laboratory level, with an irrigation rate of 9 L / h / m2 and 10 g / L of leaching solution, under a previous agglomerate treatment and curing with the operation parameters mentioned above. In addition, the FeT present would not cause any inconvenience in the case of working the mineral by leaching method, since the pH would be less than 2 when working in an acidic medium and there would be no risk of iron precipitation causing impermeability to the pile.
