Abstract

Laboratory equipments are technologies of great importance in the scientific sector and the appropriate selection of them provides accuracy, reliability and timeliness of results, while ensuring a high level of performance. In the present work a mathematical model is proposed for the adequate selection of laboratory equipment, which is required to be imported in the coming years, for the characterization services of materials that are carried out in the CIPIMM. The mathematical model designed consists of a set of variables combined in mathematical functions, expressed in restrictions that the company has for the selection of equipment with the purpose of maximizing the profits acquired through them. The model was obtained through the application of linear and integer programming methods and the solution of the model was carried out using the Simplex method, supported by the Solver Pro software as a computing tool to achieve greater efficiency in its application. By means of the execution of the mathematical model proposed, it was possible to optimize the selection of laboratory equipment. The equipment of laboratories proposed for import, guarantee the highest possible profits to be obtained in the amount of 889.0 Thousands of Total Currency per year. The proper selection of these equipment through the model, helps improve the performance of the company, because it makes it more efficient and profitable and produces greater satisfaction for customers, since their objectives are focused on the needs they require.
