Determination of the potential Zeta of the feldspar mineral used as an additive in the ceramic industry
Main Article Content
Abstract
The following paper addresses the influence of potential Z on the feldspar mineral used as an additive in the production of sanitary furniture. Having as main objective to determine the pH value where the balance of the loads is reached, managing to keep the ore in suspension. For this, the mass titration test is performed by adding solid with the unground ore and with the ground mineral. Based on the results of this test, it was determined that the zero load point for this material was 8.77 under the 35 meshes, observing that for this granulometry a sedimentation of coarse ore was maintained, but not for the ground ore under the 325 meshes where it was possible to disperse all the solid during agitation. However, the zero-charge point behaves similar to the previous one with a pH of 8.75. The pH was modified with values above (pH 10) and below (pH 3) of the zero charge point to check the behavior of the mineral, reaching the conclusion that at values above the PZC the particles managed to stay in suspension longer than with lower pH.
