Gold adsorption by the columm carbon process from rich liquors from percolation batches
Main Article Content
Abstract
It is evaluated from the preliminary technical and economical point of view, the application of the gold absorption process by means of activated carbon in columns (CIC), with respect to the process of Merrill Crowe, applied in our gold processing plants. This technological variant applied in many gold plants in the world, has many advantages and in the case of Cuba, has the additional strength of there is an elution and electrolysis plant in a plant in the central part of the country, with a processing capacity of 500 kg of gold/year and of which only one small part is used. This plant constitutes one of the most expensive investment elements, in case of having to be implemented in each percolation plant. The use of coal process in column combined with elution and electrolysis, applied to percolation liquors has the following advantages:
- Increase gold recovery levels in leaching and global recovery (up to Doré).
- It allows the savings of a large number of import reagents for gold precipitation and its foundry, with respect to Merrill Crowe.
- Simplifies the process, because it does not require clarified liquors, or deelated.
- Doré metals of the high law are obtained, facilitating its marketing and prices, with respect to those obtained in our current plants.
The results obtained in this preliminary evaluation demonstrates the advantages of applying the coal process in column compared to Merrill Crowe.
