Study of the effectiveness of the Cuban industrial minerals in the conservation and storage of seeds
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present work belongs together with the preliminary result of the investigation carried out in the evaluation of different abundant nonmetallic minerals in Cuba in its natural state (zeolita, the carbonate of calcium, kaolin, among other) and products of high added value (AVA) starting from the modification of the natural zeolitas. The objective is to study the effectiveness of the industrial minerals in the conservation and storage of horticultural, oleaginous seeds and grains. The best results of germinated seeds are obtained in all the samples where the mineral products were applied, not being this way in the witness. A tendency is evidenced to favor the conservation with the used clays whenever this he/she is carried out under controlled conditions. For the bean species Caupi, the used clays were not effective to favor the protection of the seeds and to stop the negative action of the micro present flora under the conditions of more intense temperature. In the bean conservation Caupi under controlled conditions, germination took place in all the variants, what was favored by the less harmful action of the atmosphere. The most promising values reached in the rehearsals under conditions controlled in bean Caupi in the period were reached by the varying CaCO3 (42.25%), zeolita - Cu (39.50%) and bentonita (38.25%), without significant differences among them. The witness also in this case he/she manifests the tendency to reach smaller value that the rest of the variants and bigger number of sick plants, while they show higher values the varying CaCO3 (50.0%), zeolita - Cu (47.0%) and zeolita - Zn(47.0%). The conservation under controlled conditions, they behaved similar to the results obtained to ambient temperature for the Ajonjolí, zeolita - Cu (44.25%) and zeolita - Zn (44.25%) and CaCO3 (43.0%). The evaluations with seeds of treated ajonjolí and conserved to ambient temperature, they give as preliminary results a tendency to the not appearance of fungous illnesses with the seeds tried with carbonate of calcium. The treatments with the variants in study for the conservation in cold manifested a tendency to the control of fungous illnesses taken place by the patógenos of the goods Fusarium, Rhizopus, Aspergillus and Macrophomina with the Zeolita enriched with zinc followed by Natural Zeolita and Carbonate of Calcium.
