Abstract

In this work the study of the kinetics of leaching of gold and silver by cyanidation occurs , a source epithermal quartz ore with a gold content of 6.5 g/t. Experimental variables tested were the grinding (70, 80 and 90 % -0,074 mm ) and the cyanide concentration (0,5; 1, 2 g/L). The method used for the determination of gold and silver in the ore feed and tails was melting - fire assay , the concentration of metals (Au and Ag) and impurities in leach solutions were determined by techniques of elemental chemical analysis as (ICP ) mass spectroscopy Inductively Coupled Plasma . The tests were conducted in heavy bottles at room temperature for 24 hours leaching. Ores responded with the cyanide process and the best technology indices obtained for the extraction of gold and silver were milling degree: 90 % -0.074 mm NaCN concentration of 1,0 g/L, and the leaching time was 12 hours. The cyanide and lime consumption was 1,64kg/t and 2,2 kg/t respectively, acceptable for industrial processing of ores values.
