Characterizationof minerals of economic interest in Cuba using confocal Raman microscopy
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Investigation Center for Mining and Metallurgical Industry (CIPIMM) recently received a Confocal Raman Microscope, it is an analytical tool very useful for mining for the reason of its non destructive character, speed and capability of dealing with solid, liquid and gaseous samples, giving qualitative and quantitative results associated with thousands of minerals and also other mining useful substances. Since the beginning of 2022 this equipment has been used in a variety of topics. There are showed Nickel Sulphate characterizations from the Nickel production, Chromium ores from Camaguey province and Zinc/Lead concentrated from Pinar del Río have been studied also. Gold production is in the scope of this instrument, not only from the prospection point of view, but also in the processing industry and its environmental impact. In the presentation there are images and spectrums of different results and the main subject is to stimulate debate among researchers. Not only Mining, but also Geology and Environmental considerations are traded.
