Abstract

Leaching with sodium cyanide solution has been widely accepted as an excellent industrial method for recovering gold and silver. However, on many occasions gold is associated in the ore to copper minerals. These minerals represent a major problem due to its solubility in cyanide solutions because copper reacts forming a copper cyanide complex, increasing the consumption of cyanide and inhibiting the extraction of gold and silver, or requiring a greater amount of cyanide in solution. The aim of the present work is to study the kinetics of leaching of gold, silver and cyanides; with cyanide percolation technology of aurocupriferous ores. Ores responded satisfactorily to the cyanidation process and the best technological indexes obtained for the extraction of gold and silver were: concentration of 0.03 g/l NaCN and leaching time was 17 days. The consumption of cyanide and lime was 0.12 kg/t and 12 kg/t respectively acceptable values for the industrial processing of ores.
